KBRW Staff

General Manager: Bob Sommer- Arrived in Barrow over four years ago, But he is no stranger to the Alaska bush. In over 20 years in the Bush, Bob has worked in radio and TV in Bethal, Galena and Kodiak. Also he has helped other stations throughout the state. Bob served on the Galena City Council for 6 years and was also its Vice-Mayor. He has also served as a member of Search & Rescue, Fire Department and Emergency Communications in various communities throughout the state. He served for 10 years on the Board of Directors of the Alaska Broadcasters Association and was its President in 1999-2000. Bob is responsible for all aspects of KBRW's operations.

Inupiat Translator: James Patkotak- As of this date, May 23, 2006 James is currently a disc jockey and also translates the information files into the Inupiat language for the listeners. James for our local radio station which is the "Voice of the North" for many people.

Program Director: Isaac Tuckfield -

Operations Manager: Kai Saxton- Kai's responsibilities are to program KBRW's Master Automation Computers and play music for the listening audience. Everyday Kai plays the newest hits from the KBRW collection. He starts at 2:30 pm to help push you through the mid-afternoon blues.

News Director: Janelle Everett-

Morning News: Earl Finkler- Earl starts his day every morning at 4:00 am. He wakes us up and gets the community out to work. Earl's traffic reports help us get to work on time. You never know when there may be two or more people waiting at the same stop sign. His live interviews on community issues help keep the community involved and connected. He first started with KBRW as a volunteer announcer in 1985 and served as News Director from 1988-93. He's been doing the current morning announcer/interviewer shift since 1998. Oh, also a big Chicago Cub and Steppenwolf fan.

Jazz Below Zero with Fran Tate - KBRW's longest running show. For over twenty-five years, Fran has created a unique show every Saturday. Her exceptional knowledge of Jazz guarantees fun for all jazz fans. Tune in for a real treat!
